The Headquarters Multinational Joint Task Force (HQ MNJTF) Ndjamena – Chad have hosted a delegation of the United States African Command (USAFRICOM) on a working visit to Africa. The delegation was led by His Excellency Ambassador Azex Laskaris Deputy Commander for Civil-Military Engagement for AFRICOM.

The MNJTF strategic partners were briefed on the current security situation in the Lake Chad Basin, the evolution of the Boko Haram threat from 2015 till date, the achievements of MNJTF as well as the numerous challenges faced by the Force. This was closely followed by an interactive session during which, the US partners were clarified on, existing terrorist factions in the Lake Chad Basin their strategies and different modes of operation.

The Deputy Force Commander, Brigadier General Seydou Badje, on behalf of the Force Commander lauded the guests for their visit and expressed appreciation for the support so far given to MNJTF by the US towards the accomplishment of its mission. He reiterated that the achievement of MNJTF mission would be realised through trust, individual and collective commitments and sacrifices coupled with timely sharing of intelligence and communication amongst staff and Centre for Coordination and Liaison (CCL), as well as all the strategic partners.

Ambassador Laskaris congratulated MNJTF for efforts made to bring back peace in the Lake Chad Region. He was accompanied by Major General Hicks, Commander Special Operations Command AFRICOM and other dignitaries.
