The Defence Minister of France Florence Parly was at the Headquarters, Multinational Joint Task Force recently on a courtesy visit. In his remarks, the Force Commander, Major General Chikezie Ude received the Minister and presented a general overview of the MNJTF. Similarly, the J2 Cell also gave the Minister an update on the security situation in the Lake Chad Basin.
In her response, the French Minister noted challenge of dealing with the security and development needs of the Lake Chad Basin and urged the MNJTF to continue pursuing its mission of ridding the Lake Chad Area of terrorism in order to facilitate its development and prosperity.

In a related development, the Defence Minister of Nigeria, Mansur Mohammad Dan – Ali also visited the Headquarters MNJTF. Welcoming the Minister, the Force Commander noted that the visit was timely, as it would offer him the opportunity to have an on the spot assessment of the level of the Force.

As part of the Minister’s visit to Chad, he paid a courtesy call on the Chadian Minister of Security, Lieutenant General Mahamat Abali.
