  • FORCE COMMANDER MNJTF VISIT TO COMMANDANT KAIPTC

The Force Commander Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) visited the Commandant KAIPTC Major General Francis Ofori on 5 March 2021. The purpose of the visit was to seek wider collaboration and training support from the KAIPTC. Recall that staff officers from the MNJTF recently participated in the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Foundation Course which took place at the KAIPTC from 1 – 12 February 2021.

Thus, the support being sought by the MNJTF was to reinforce ongoing capacity building efforts of the Force towards attaining the Lake Chad Basin Commission Regional Stabilization Strategy (RSS) particularly the pillars of Security and Human Rights, DDRRR, Humanitarian Assistance, and Prevention of Violent Extremism and Peace Building. This was in consideration of the principles of the RSS, one of which is Capacity Building for Effective Service Delivery.

To this end, areas identified for future training support included DDR, CIMIC and PVE/CVE among others. On his part, the Commandant KAIPTC welcomed the Force Commander MNJTF and expressed the willingness of the Centre to provide the required training support to the Force. To this, the Force Commander MNJTF elucidated his appreciation and proposed a road map for actualization of the support, which met no objection. On the whole, the visit was hitch free and promises to improve collaboration between the KAIPTC and MNJTF.
