The Multinational Joint Taskforce (MNJTF) places high premium on building confidence, establishing trust and securing local support among the locals in its Area of operation (AoO). The objective is to restore peace, through information sharing and ultimately promoting excellent civil-military relations with the MNJTF forces in the frontlines. It is in line with this laudable objective and desire to impact positively on the lives of the local populations, that sector 1 Mora (Cameroon) and sector 3 Monguno (Nigeria) embarked on some Civil-military relations’ projects and programmes in their AoOs.

Recently, the Sector 1 in Mora (Cameroon) identified critical needs of two schools in Michidire and Touski villages respectively located in their AoO. These schools were particularly affected by the nefarious activities of the Boko Haram insurgents, which led to the destructions of items in the schools. In its efforts to restore normalcy and support educational activities, the HQ Sector 1 procured and distributed a sizeable number of Tables and Benches for the use of the pupils in the schools.

Handing over the items, the Chief of Staff, Colonel Ashetkuemun Mounchingam, on behalf of the Sector Commander, Brigadier General Bouba Dobekreo urged the schools’ managements to ensure proper utilization and maintenance of the items. He said, the provision of Tables and Benches to the schools will surely provide conducive learning environment and enhance teaching and learning.

Among the prominent local authorities and community leaders that graced the occasion were Mayor of WAZA in Michidire and the Sub-Divisional Inspector of Basic Education of MORA in Touski. In their separate remarks, they expressed appreciation for the donation of the items, commended and assured the MNJTF forces of their continuous cooperation and support to military operations in their localities.
