The Force Commander (FC) Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Major General Lucky Irabor paid operational visits to the Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri, Nigeria, Makary and Kousseri in the Republic of Cameroon respectively from 15 to 17 January 2018.
While in Maiduguri, the FC and his entourage were received by The Theatre Commander Major General Rogers Nicolas who in his welcome remarks welcomed the FC and entourage to the Headquarters Theatre Command Complex. He stated that “the MNJTF and LAFIYA DOLE almost have the same operation with different names. One is multinational and the other is Nigerian Armed Forces Operation.
In his response, General Irabor appreciated the warm reception accorded to him and his entourage. He said that stability is returning to the Lake Chad Basin, by the virtue of MNJTF operations “Terrorism does not have respect for borders and that we need to interact with commanders of national operations to share information and thoughts and encourage each other regarding operations”.
The FC proceeded to Makary, where he was received by the Commander of Sector One, Brigadier General Bouba. Before presenting a brief to the FC, a Minute of Silence was observed in honour of those who lost their lives and prayed for quick recovery of the wounded. A detailed brief on the current situation, successes recorded and on future prospects of the unit was presented. In his response, General Irabor thank the Sector Commander for the reception and brief. He assured the Command that the MNJTF will do everything possible to address issues raised during the briefing.
General Irabor later addressed troops where he lauded them for the gallant efforts put in so far in the fight against BHT. He used the medium to implore them to operate as one family and urged them not to relent their efforts as the fight is not yet over, but to keep up with the tireless spirit.
Before leaving Makary, he paid a courtesy call to the Senior Divisional Officer Mekone Obounou Albert, who thanked the FC for his visit and assured him of continuous cooperation, collaboration and support to the military.
The FC later proceeded to Kousseri, where he paid a courtesy visit to the Senior Divisional Officer Mognon Bouba and the Sultan of Kousseri, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Abba Mahamat Moussa respectively.
In his remarks during his visit to the Royal palace of the Sultan of Kousseri, the FC reassured the Royal Father of the MNJTF’s determination in the fight against terrorism, and urged the traditional institutions to call on subjects to support MNJTF in its efforts towards bringing everlasting peace, security and harmony in the Lake Chad Basin Commission Region.
General Irabor was accompanied to the visit by some Chiefs of Cells from the Headquarter MNJTF which include; Cols Ngwah Addoulaye, Moustapha Anka, Manjang, Moussa, Yonga, amongst others.
